How to read a Rheem model number
Rheem and Ruud furnaces share model numbers. For these families the filter follows the cabinet width, not the heating input. Page numbers below are the page of the PDF file.
Endeavor line 2022-2026 (R801T, R801V, R802V, R921T/V, R951T/V, R962V, R97MV, R98MV; Rheem and Ruud use the same model numbers)
Example: R801T0503A14UHSNAS
- R = brand letter (R for both Rheem and Ruud on this line; Ruud = 'Achiever', Rheem = 'Classic')
- 80 / 92 / 95 / 96 / 97 / 98 = AFUE class
- next char = stages of heating: 1 single-stage, 2 two-stage, M modulating
- next char = blower motor: T constant torque, V variable-speed ECM
- 3 digits = heating input in kBTU/h (050 = 50,000; 075 = 75,000; 100 = 100,000; 115 = 115,000)
- 1 digit = max AC blower tons (3, 4 or 5)
- letter = major design series (A)
- 2 digits = cabinet width: 14 = 14in, 17 = 17.5in, 21 = 21in, 24 = 24.5in ; this sets the filter size
- position code: UH upflow/horizontal, DZ downflow (zero-clearance), M4 multi-position 4-way, DH downflow/horizontal, UP upflow
- NOx: S standard, N low NOx, U ultra-low NOx
- controls: N non-communicating, C or G communicating (EcoNet)
- minor series letter (A)
- option code: S standard grade, P premium grade
How it connects to the filter: External bottom rack RXGF-CB: 14in cabinet 12 1/4 x 25, 17.5in 15 3/4 x 25, 21in 19 1/4 x 25, 24.5in 22 3/4 x 25. Side rack RXGF-CD: 15 3/4 x 25 for every size. Downflow 80% (DZ): RXGF-CC (2) 14 x 20. 90%+ multi-position: RXGF-CC 14 x 20 or 12 x 20 depending on family. 97/98% modulating: 16x24 / 20x24 / 24x24 by cabinet. Exceptions exist in individual tables (see the model data notes).

Rheem/Ruud 80% 2012-2021 (R801S, R801P, R801T, R801V, R802P, R802V; Ruud also used U802V)
Example: R801SA075417MSA
- R = Rheem (Ruud versions of R801S/R801P/R801T use the same R prefix; U802V is Ruud's twin of R802V)
- 80 = 80% AFUE; 1 = single stage, 2 = two-stage
- S = PSC motor, P = PSC (Classic), T = constant torque, V = variable speed
- A = design series
- 3 digits = input kBTU/h (050, 075, 100, 125, 150)

- M = multi/upflow-horizontal configuration; Z = downflow
- S = standard, X = low NOx (shown as * in spec sheets)
- A = marketing revision
